Overthrow the Captain
03:12
|
|||
We're not here to start a fight
Now's the time to shine a light
When nothing left feels sacred
Why's the world so full of hatred?
Could it be an evil force?
Or just the daily news reports?
That keep us all dragged down
Overthrow the captain, it's what we're gonna do
I won't let anything happen to me or you
Overthrow the captain of misery and blight
Overthrow the captain tonight
Why don't you leave your comfort zone?
When you live in it alone
When there's nothing to do and no one there to talk to
I know we've all been there
A thousand times before
And I don't wanna be here anymore
Overthrow the captain, it's what we're gonna do
I won't let anything happen to me or you
Overthrow the captain of misery and blight
Overthrow the captain...
Tonight!
Tonight!
Tonight!
Tonight!
Overthrow the captain, it's what we're gonna do
I won't let anything happen to me or you
Overthrow the captain of misery and blight
Overthrow the captain tonight

Where are you today?
Last weekend feels so far away
And I know everything is crazy
And the world is full of sad
But come along with me
It doesn't have to be so bad
We'll get in my car and we'll sing along
To all our favorite '90s songs
If there's nothing to do
And nowhere to be
I swear that you'll be safe with me
I've got my guitar in hand
I'll play you a song by your favorite band and
Just you and me
The party's just begun
A special concert for an audience of one
Looking back on that day
Regretting little things I'd say
Overthinking my words
And hoping you don't hate me now
The truth is
I think you're beautiful anyhow
It kind of sounds like you've been hurt before
But that won't happen anymore
You want a guy who will never cheat
Well you could try going out with me
I've got my guitar in hand
I'll play you a song by your favorite band and
Just you and me
The party's just begun
A special concert for an audience of one
I don't know how things will turn out
But I can promise I'll be good for any amount
Of time together
I've got my guitar in hand
I'll play you a song by your favorite band
Just you and me
The party's just begun
A special concert for an audience of one

Nowhere to Park
01:43
|
|||
Turn off my TV set and hop into my car
Tonight I'll play a punk rock show and feel like I'm a star
I bring along a Snapple and I blast the stereo
I pull onto the interstate while blaring Squad Five-O
I get to the show after the oriental market
I drive my car around but I can't find a place to park it (Can't find a place to park it!)
There's nowhere to park
There's nowhere to park
There's nowhere to park at the venue
There's nowhere to park
There's nowhere to park
Well I don't know what I'm gonna do
I drive around the building looking for a spot
I think I see one up ahead but it turns out it's not
A pointless sign is warning me that my car will be towed
I drive over a pothole and I hear my tire explode
I'm getting really sick of this and blow into a rage
Only seven minutes til we've gotta be on stage
There's nowhere to park
There's nowhere to park
There's nowhere to park at the venue
There's nowhere to park
There's nowhere to park
Well I don't know what I'm gonna do

Atlantic Vacation

*Ready?*
*1-2-3-4!*
She's standing on the beach
Where nobody knows her name
She says tonight she'll skip the alumni b-ball game
She's stressed from her career
But she's never looking back
Yet she's still got a flip phone and a Joan Jett 8-track
She's hanging onto something
But tells the world she's not
She opens up her yearbook and
Claims that she forgot
You won't catch her red-handed having any fun
Invite her to the show but she'll say those days are done
Behind the scenes, we all know, she's not the only one
Planning her retirement when her life has just begun
What's it like to live alone
Without a roommate or a pet
She tells me that it hasn't really gotten to her yet
She writes inside her notes
Then she tucks them out of sight
Plans her spring vacation and discreetly boards her flight
Right away she makes a point to close the cabin windows
Asks the flight attendant for a couple extra pillows
(She's exhausted!)
You won't catch her red-handed having any fun
Invite her to the show but she'll say those days are done
Behind the scenes, we all know, she's not the only one
Planning her retirement when her life has just begun
She stands out on the balcony of her vacation home
She screams to the Atlantic
She's feeling so alone
She wants to feel alive again
She wants a little fun
She wants to feel human
But she can't tell anyone
So she gave up on the image and now she's having fun
Her shoes are getting sandy while she's dancing in the sun
Now she's feeling human, asking why she'd ever run
Cuz she tried to find to success, now her journey's finally done
Finally done
Where is she going and why does she hide?
Finally done
All the dark emotions are burning deep inside
Finally done
Losing herself to a boring career
Finally done
She finally remembers what matters in the end
Finally done
